As it’s Halloween this week, I though it may be intuitive to create a post about face painting and more theatrical make up.
Over the years I have created some really exciting and interesting make ups Some of them for underwater shoots so I have tried and tested many products.
One of the most iconic face paintings was this one for Robbie Williams’ Let Me Entertain You campaign.
Robbie asked me on the shoot of Angels if we could create a Kiss style make up for his next video. During a make up test prior to the shoot I painted on the joker style mouth which is really close to his natural lip shape, it worked perfectly and made the look more signature to his personality. The shoot was directed by Vaughan Arnell and ran over two very long days at Camden Roundhouse, London.
Continuity was vital and I had to find a product that once on did not move.
I used Derma Color camouflage creme in white then painted on the eyes and mouth in pure black.Set with a translucent waterproof powder by Kryolan it remained in perfect place through many hot and sweaty hours of filming. This product is truly one of my most trusty kit essentials and I have used it on many other shoots.
My favourite makeup suppliers in London for inspiring products, helpful advice and reliable stock are,
